i been a member for a good while now.im not computer savey.but i come hear to learn and listen to others questions .so im not going to be a big point earner,i dont even know how i got the points i have.

now to get to my problem.i cant have anything appraised, nor can i sell anything on here to fellow gamers.this seems to be alittle unfair, and maybe unfair to a member who could have got a great deal.so is there anything that can be done to help me out.thx for listening

Post helpful replies, and get 35 rep. Sorry, but thats really the only way.
Your only option is to find ways to help the other members, and if they feel you deserve it, you'll get more rep points. Once you have 35 points, you can start selling.
well thx for the answer.i sell else where,no biggy

It is not hard to get reputation. All you have to do is continue helping people and making proper posts and it will add up.

Every has to go through it and there is no easier way of doing it.

Yes. Watch the Unanswered Threads area for one and help wherever you can. Click Quick Links on the black bar above and choose Unanswered Threads.

Also watch OCN Live and help when you can. Go to the main page and where it says "Latest Discussions", look for the little gray link that just says "Live". Click that and watch it. You can even pause it too.

You can also browse all the forums manually and go into places of your interest and see if anyone has threads where you can be of service.

But above all: when you help, you need to help while expecting absolutely nothing in return. I mean, if you help with the hope of getting a Rep+, then you are already decreasing your chances of getting a Rep+ because it affects the way you help. But if you help just because you want to see that person get the help that they came here for, then you might get a Rep+. You further increase your chances when you basically do everything within your power to answer all of their questions in one single reply (and future questions that you create by saying whatever you say in your reply). Naturally, this means you have to put effort into it. But it's worth it if all you care about is seeing that the person gets what they came here for.

So how do you get Rep+? That's easy: try to avoid caring about it. Just help wherever you can. Get to know your area of expertise and then focus on it. But don't think too hard about it. Just hang out and before long you'll be replying to threads where 10-15 other people have already replied, but you'll be the only one to have completely answered the entire thread in one single post. It will probably earn you a Rep+ from other people too.

So, the more effort you put into it, the higher the quality of your help and posts, etc, etc., the greater the chances are of you getting a Rep+.

Does this mean that I care about whether or not I get a Rep+? I honestly couldn't care less about the Rep+ system (but I still give Rep+ because I don't know who does and who doesn't care about it).

Not much for patience? This site IMO is much more about the community than the ability to sell. Is it a perk I want to partake in? Yes. But it is not the sole reason to come here

*Edit* I should note that Twocables nailed it. Stop worrying about the rep it comes based on the amount you contribute into the community. For me I know I glean more from the community than I give back, but little by little if you do have some expertise you can give it back to the community and rep will come.
