Ok guys and gals,

I brought the game home on friday afternoon and that evening, threw it into the old PS3. (It had to be dark for the atmosphere
)

It starts up, I hand the missus her pad, start the game, she presses the start button, takes us to the pause screen, unpause and WOW!

And not the good kind of wow either.

Why is it that the way the screen is split it all to ****?

My screen is in the top right hand corner of the TV (50" samsung plasma) and her character is in the bottom left???

We have a quarter of the screen each and the space that's not in use is just black?

Anyone know how to fix this issue? I would like either a horizontal or vertical 50:50 split, not this 25% split with 50% dead space.

Cheers

Tom

Does it work that way for other split screen games? Did you check the settings in the game aswell as those for the console?

If all else fails, blame the game ^^
Haven't heard of this before. Possibly a patch will be addressed for it shortly. Works fine on 360 so I don't know if it's the game or what.

Have you tried other split-screen games on this TV? Possibly there is an issue with resolution.
No, never played split screen on this TV, all other 2 player games have been same screen multiplayer (LEGO Batman for example).

I will try downloading a split screen demo now and test it out.

Could anyone post picture of how the split screen looks on their TV and I will do the same with mine...show you how it looks.

Tom

I believe that the issue you are having is just how the game is made. This guy is having the same issue. Maybe it will be fixed with a patch.

I played it on 360 at a friend's house over the weekend and the split-screen was normal, just like any other split-screen game. Must be a PS3-related issue.
Apperantly setting the screen resolution to 480i (or P) solves this issue.
However it does throw HD gaming right out of the window.

I can't stop but thinking that Capcom has some major issues trying to get this HD thing going, first Dead Rising and its infamous font issue, now this.

Cheers Criminal, that's the exacy issue I'm having.

I've just tried changing from the 1080i I use to 720P and still no change

Going to have to figure this out because it's the only problem with an otherwise flawless game

Here's a picture taken on my BBerry (so crap quality) to show the difference between this and Kane and Lynch

Try it on 480i/p and see if it changes anything. If it does then it's a problem with the game. Other people are having this issue so you'll have to play in 480 if that works or wait for a patch.
I can't get 480i I don't believe...

The TV only allows me to go down to 576p, which I have tried to no avail

ARGH! Why have they only cocked this up on the PS3 though? [email protected]!

I'm going to keep digging for a fix, if I find one, I'll let you know.

I don't understand how your TV doesn't accept standard resolution.. Plug in a component cable and try it. If you're using HDMI then I still don't see why you can't.

That's not an old Samsung TV. I don't understand how you can't get a standard definition resolution..
that's exactly how it was intended, that is the way the demo was.

I have a hard time believing that the developers made it that way for the PS3 version and not the Xbox version.

Wrong, because the 360 version is not like that at all.

thats how the game was made. There is nothing wrong with your TV or the game, its just the way it is.

I meant the PS3 version, which is what section this is in and what the OP had asked.

We know that's the way it was made, we just want to fix it.

I don't believe for one second that they would make a version for the 360 that has a 50:50 split screen like every other split screen game, but then for the PS3 version only allow me a 15" screen in the top left corner of my 50" Plasma

I only have HDMI and I am only presented with the choice of using 1080i, 720p or 576p...I can check and uncheck all boxes except the 576p one....that MUST remain - for some reason.

I tried it on that res and it looks worse than my old PS2 games

So I know that any smaller would be unplayable.

Again, I don't believe that they would design the game so that the only way you can play it in real split screen is to lower the res to a point where you no longer have a crosshair etc...

Don't be tosspots, just offer advice

I remember the Demo for battlefield 2142 had a glitch on it where if you walked on a carrier at a certain point, you fell in and could wall hack.

Then when they brought the game out it had the same glitch...

THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT WAS INTENTIONAL!!! :swearing:

Many games have issues on release, issues that they also had in beta...it just seems that they care more about making money than they do fixing the games, much like everyone else in the industry.

Right!I just had a call from a friend of mine who manages a GAME store. He called to ask me if RE5 is alright, because they have had over 20 PS3 RE5 returns today!!!
Wonder why that could be?

But maybe they designed the game to be returned the day after purchase, eh Damage?

what is a tosspot? anyway, what I meant was it was nothing you were doing with your TV, that it was how they were making it on the game. It was meant that way... for now, if they deem it to be a glitch they'll fix it. take a chill pill

Right, I'm not freaking out mate, just caps lock looks better when getting a point across

As I mentioned before, it's a great game but there are tons of returns, so I hope the issue is resolved soon for their sake aswel as my own
