Just got it a few days ago and I'm thinking of returning it. It's running WAY too hot!!!! I feel like my case is gonna melt, and when I touch the the top of the card it feels 4 times hotter than my GTX 280! It's running at stock by the way. I wouldn't mind keeping it cause I like the performance, but I feel like my components are literally gonna melt, catch on fire (there's a thin fan wire plugged into CPU_fan right beside it anyway), or straight up malfunction. My cpu's watercooled (only the CPU, not the video card), and I had to move the video card down a slot because the plastic tubing near the card was getting way too hot! A part of the tubing was originally nudging the card and that was actually almost burning (you can see it slightly indented right where it was touching).

God damn, I'm gonna return this in the next few days or so. I knew this was a hot card, but I never knew it was this hot

Here's proof that I actually have it:

Do companies charge restocking fees or will they take it back and give me a full refund?

What are your temps????? Seriously, your pissing and moaning about it being too hot but don't say what temps your seeing. And who cares if it's too hot to the touch, plenty of components on computers are too hot to touch, if I touch a part of my computer I could cook a cake, or a batch of cookies, or even a undercooked batch of cookies, or nothing... heck..... be more specific lol.

I have:

3 GT AP-15s (exhaust) for my rad
1 GT AP-15 as an exahaust fan
1 bottom Corsair fan intaking air from the bottom
1 HHD fan

I know the 800Ds have relatively poor airflow, but these temps are kinda ridiculous.

I used GPU-Z a few days ago and temps were in the lowish 70s (Celsius). According to the log GPU load when running Metro all maxed GPU load was in the 80%s, never maxed, could that be become it's throttling itself?

When I open up my case it's literally much hotter than my GTX 280. When I touch the metal plate, I have to remove it soon or it gets very uncomfortable to the point where it's gonna burn my finger.

Again, I'd love to keep this card, but the temps are horrible. GPU-Z said it's in the low 70s, and when I touch the plate, it literally feels like it's that hot.

I don't get this question. It's definitely the graphics card.

Even 70C is 'mild' for GPU's and that's nearly 160 degrees in Fahrenheit.

I've had my GTX 280 for almost 2 years and it was never this hot, not even close. The 280 never made the tubing near it hot. The GTX 590 even made the metallic "T-Line" for loop draining hot as hell. I don't care what the temps are on paper, this card is way too hot.

One way to tell if your case fans aren't producing sufficient flow is to take the side door off and see if the temps improve. If the temps do, your fans need some tweaking! More then likely your exhaust/intake setups need to be adjusted.

From what I remember, it was in the mid 70ish. And yeah, you're right, it's nothing, cause my GTX 280 runs in the mid 80s, but guess what, it's nowhere near as hot as this card is.

Why is it that my 280 (which would run in the mid 80s) produce nowhere near as much heat as the GTX 590 does?

And why are you so protective of some piece of plastic over what some person's saying?? Trust me dude, this card seems like it's twice as hot my GTX 280.

So your 280 doesn't produce the heat and power of the 590... maybe cause the 590 maybe is more powerful..... no that can't be reasonable.... or can it.......!? Oh my lord!??!?!?!??!?!? <<<<<<insert head explosion>>>>>
