Yet another review!

This time we'll be reviewing Metro 2033, with and without PhysX Single vs SLI, stock vs overclocked.

Test bench consisted of a i5-2500k @ 4.8 GHz, with 4GB of DDR3 @ 1900 running 8-9-8-24-1T in single channel mode (qq). Stock settings for the GTX 470 are 607 Core, 1214 Shader, and 1701Mhz Memory (3402Mhz effective). Overclocked settings for the GTX 470s are 850 Core, 1700 Shader, and 2200Mhz Memory (4400 effective).

The 9800GT was constantly at 810 core, 1893 shader, 918Mhz Memory (1836 effective) - Of note here is the 9800GT cards don't go exactly where you tell them, so these clocks could be slightly higher or lower depending on where the closest actual clock rates are.

Of course we'll be benching Metro 2033, I used the provided Benchmark with the game. I did two runs, however instead of using the benchmarks results I used FRAPS to record the min/max/avg fps and then used that data to create a graph. I ran fraps on the second run only. I started it once the image became clear, and ended it just as it was fading at the end of the bus.

In game settings used where as follows: Of note here I reset my NV Control Panel to default as the benchmark is more can capable of killing my 470s on its own.

And of course here are my results:

Metro 2033 isn't very "PhysX'ed" compared to Mafia II. But things that are PhysX generated add a nice touch to an overall experience of this game. The visuals are amazing to the point where the game can easily scare you. Adding life like physics to the really just enhances this feeling of immersion.

While the implementation clearly does not require a dedicated card, the overall presentation of PhysX in this title makes me glad to have an Nvidia card.

So... a second 470 as PhysX performs poorer than a 9800GT??

In SLI (they're 470s) yes, as a dedicated card there is pretty much no difference in performance as Metro 2033 doesn't need more power than a 9800GT could provide, having more than that doesn't increase fps because it doesn't increase the rate normal frames are rendered.
