So, I was browsing my local listings today and found a guy who's getting rid of his two EVGA GTX 690s for $1200 between the two of 'em. I'm an AMD kinda guy in the graphics department, but from the limited research I have done, this looks like a pretty good deal. He says that he's getting rid of them for Titan. What do you guys think, should I bite if all checks out? Worst case scenario, could I sell them and make a small profit? What do you guys think is a good estimate of what they are going for now that it's no longer king of the hill? Thanks for the insight.

I would buy them in a heartbeat if I had the money. SLI them and be good for a while. Those cards other than the ram will toast a titan.

True. But at 600 each, that's a good deal and hard to pass up. I would buy both, just to keep one and then sell the other.

Yeah, quad-sli 690's is kind-of a bad deal. They do 'scale', but usually not that well, and the scenario where they would (very high resolutions and settings), you are quite likely to run into vram capacity limitations because no matter how many of them you have, your effective vram capacity is only 2GB.

For not much more than $1200, you could get tri-SLI 670 4GB cards and have a MUCH better setup TBH.

As others have said, buy 'em, use one, sell the 2nd one. Keep in mind though that you may not try to sell the card here on OCN, without the requisite 35 rep.

And please guys, do not make offers to buy the card(s) from him on the boards. This isn't the marketplace forum, it's the nV forum, and there's to be no talk of buying/selling amongst members outside the Marketplace forum

If these are legit working 690s for 600 dollars each thats a great price, like others have said id buy both and sell one.

Just dont buy before you know they have nothing wrong with them.

BrettJv- I have found that I have never run out of VRAM on my set up which is 120 hz 5760 x1080 resolution. Now running out of VRAM is also based on AA settings, and if someone wants to maximize AA on very high resolutions in sub optimized games, I am not even sure if quad Titans could handle that. However, I am going to test my quad Titans once they arrive, with 3d surround and see what kind of performance i get on different demanding games with and without 3d enabled.
I think that my experience is in line with your conclusion that "670 4gb are not even better than 670 2gb". to use as a parallel. But, I could be wrong.
Now value/performance may be a different issue. Some people do like the look of only 2 gpus instead for 4 to accomplish quad sli.

Thanks for the help guys. Turns out the guy is over 5 hours away, and I'm a student without a method of transport, so the deal looks like it's a no-go. If anyone here's in Upper Quebec and interested, just PM me and I'll send a link to the post.
