I am just about to order some new liquid and tubing to redo my loop as the tubing and white liquid has gone a brown color for whatever reason. When i built it the last time it was my first time and i didnt run a drain line in the loop, this time i will so my question being do i just run tubing from the spare port on my pump with another barb and get an end stop or is there somewhere else this should be? or a different way this should be done.

Thanks in advance

The drain line should be either directly after the pump or alternatively at the very lowest point of your loop.

So i cant run it from the extra port on my pump top? there is three ports. I have the ek acetal black top on the d5 vario pump. Would have to use a T fitting of some sort? in the outlet tubing? my pump is the lowest point of the loop in the bottom of the case

Thanks

Yeah running the tube from the pump top should work fine. Preferably it should be a outlet port but either way it should work.

Thanks for that yes i have just checked the top specs sheet and the additional port is an outlet. I don`t plan on the liquid discoloring again, although i did not this time either, i can only assume its from the rad although i did run de-ionised water through it first to flush so the plan will be for service only not the whole re-tubing again this time when needed.

Noob question 2 - can you swap the outlet and inlet of the radiator or not? my tubing has to cross back across my gpu x 2 and it would fit better the other way round.

Thanks

As long as the res is directly connected to the pump inlet the rest makes little difference. Putting the res on the outlet side would make filling the loop almost impossible so don't do that.

No just the out and in of the radiator could do with swapping just because of better tubing fit.

the pump is IN the reservoir
You would have to put a drain line on the res outlet tube i believe using a t splitter and end stop same as i will just in a different place

Well that`s up to you, i didn`t do it the first time and now i have to replace my liquid and tubing due to discoloration and it will be a bigger job than with a drain tube i suppose. The next time i need to change liquid hopefully won t need to change the tubing so draining and re-filling with the drain line will be easy.

i have a kit like that and i've added a gpu block, 360 rad, all at different times, going to add a fill/drain port on the back of my case so i just have to tilt it 90 degrees(used to drain out of the fill port on the res, that was a PITA though)
