SABERTOOTH Z77 sleep mode and shutdown problem

So this is my first build but I have ran across two problems. The first problem i encountered was when i put it to sleep mode it would not wake back up. the second problem is similar but when i shut it down from windows 7 the monitor wil shut off but the system seems to be still active and the lights on motherboard and in case are on and all fans including cpu. ive read about reseting CMOS but also read that they couldnt get past POST after doing so but they resolved that and then ran into a DRAM problem so im kind of reluctant.
