I wonder how they will make it work at 240 hz native resolution? I guess you will have to lower the colors? Or maybe it support dual DP 1.4 for that extra bandwidth as it comes with two 1.4 DP ports.

The G9 is probably physically the best looking monitor I've ever seen. And that curve is bad ass. I may have to give it a try as I wait for the 48CX OLED.

Vertical space is same with a 27" monitor with a crummy 1440 resolution. A tennis match and black bars galore. POS monitor ... unless they make the height and resolution more vertically. All this and a VA talk about off looking colors when playing the tennis match lol.

Does this monitor have hardware G-Sync support? What I have read wasn't clear.

Has anyone found out yet, how Samsung achieves 240Hz native resolution 10-bit color, without any form of DSC? Because it exceeds what the current 1.4 DP bandwidth can handle (Samsung already confirmed that the monitor is running dual 1.4 DP, and HDMI 2.0).

Are they using some sort of dual DP 1.4 setup to achieve the bandwidth requirements? Or do you have to turn down the colors (Chroma subsample)?

IMO it is a moot point. I've never seen a VA panel that could handle more than about 160 Hz refresh rate before going higher actually adding additional motion blur.

I am waiting for a couple years. I want a dp 2.0/ HDMI full 2.1 monitor, and a Graphics card ready for those specs. I think we are a year or 2 out from having everything ready for that. My Alienware 3440x1440 will have to do till then.
Would really like to have at least 1600 vertical also. Would like to avoid VA.

I just got it confirmed, the Samsung Odyssey G9 will support DSC! No more speculation on how the monitor achieves 240hz without any drawbacks!

+1 i wanna know this too

are you gonna need to run 2 DP 1.4 cables to achieve the advetised 240hz with the max resolution of 5120x1440? i never saw this kinda setup before?

in case 1 cable only I doubt even DSC is gonna be enough as DP 1.4 is barely enough for 240hz QHD with DSC, let alone 5120x1440 which is basicelly QHDx2
