I remember back in the Q6600 days I had a DFI P35 Lanparty which had all these crazy settings like northbridge voltage (not sure if all mobos had this) which *may* help for overclocking. Whats the equivalent to vNB nowadays? Also, now that DFI is gone (I could appreciate a story on this too), is there any replacement to take DFI's place for mobos?

With Sandy, the northbridge is actually on the CPU now instead of being on the board like they used to be on the 775 socket boards. What exactly do you mean by something to take DFI's place? There are many decent motherboard manufacturers around at the moment, Gigabyte, Asus and EVGA just to name the few obvious...
