When overclocking Clarkdale, Wolfdale and Allendale, sticking to stock volts doesn't really change the idle power consumption but increasing the Vcore, etc can have some pretty significant effects. Since I tend to leave PC's on 24/7 and don't want to bother with sleep (it sometimes works, most of the time doesn't and I've given up trying to figure out why), I like my computers to use as little power as possible when idle.
