I recently got a new phone for my birthday, the Sanyo Katana. It suits me just fine, but there is only one quirk: I can transfer contacts using bluetooth, but I cannot figure out how to transfer pictures. I'm pretty sure it's possible, but I have no idea how. Googling the problem didn't help me out at all, maybe you guys can.

Yes mootin, it doesn't mention anything at all about photos. It specifies I can send business cards and contacts (which I already know how to and have done).

Perhaps the phone's File Transfer over Bluetooth is locked by the carrier. You got the phone with Bell correct?

My friend got a Moto E815 last year from Bell and File Transferring is also locked/blocked by the carrier.

I'm a tech for Sprint and I have that phone in my hands everyday. I know you can do it with my phone (Samsung A900) ans well as other Samsung bluuetooth phones. I'm pretty sure you can do it also with the Katana... but being that it's Sanyo's first Bluetooth phone... it might not be able to. I'll let you know in the morning when I get back to the office.

Now that I have one in my hand it cannot send pictures via bluetooth. Unlike Samsungs where you click on send then it asks you if you wanna send via picturemail or via bluetooth, the Katana automatically connects to the Sprint network and prompts to send via picturemail only. Sorry about that.

You might be able to use the data cable with the phone drivers and some kind of media downloader...that's how I get my pictures off my phone...

Thanks for the confirmation Transonic. I didn't get a data cable with the phone Sideburns, and I can't justify the cost of getting one vs the use I would get out of it. Thanks everyone!

I have been reading the conversation here about the pictures via bluetooth, but I was wondering if anyone has gotten the Katana to transfer thru a data cable. I have looked at the Datapilot software but it has so many negitive remarks from folks , thought I'd see if anyone here has had any luck.
Thanks folks I appreciate it! Dave

The Katana can't send pictures via Bluetooth. But it does a fine job sending them to other phones/PDAs either via the telephone number or e-mail address. I have done so many times.
Seems that this Katana has some growing up to do re: Bluetooth. It has a hard time talking to MotoRazers -- it can receive contact info, but the Razer displays "file corrupted" messages when receiving from a Katana.

for those of you (dunno if this is for original katana or katanaII) who are looking for a way to do this,
it IS possible.

you just have to send them a contact over bluetooth with the picture set as the contacts picture.

e.g.

find/add contact > add contact > contact name : Pictures! > set picture as Pictures! contact picture > send via bluetooth > enjoy
