I've read a few articles about it, since I'm looking to add another 5850 to my setup. I have the same question I see everywhere, did I miss this release or did they wait a while to do it? Either way, I haven't seen much about it and wondering what people think of it. I mean, a 5850 coming out when the 6000s are mainstream?

Edit: I wanna crossfire, but worried about compatibility...since it seems like this is a completely new design of the 5850.

It will work, doesn't matter if it's a new design. It's still a 5850.

And it won't interfere because it's just faster, with the same clock speeds and such?

The slower card would slow down the faster card and you cant o.c them individual.
Edit: i have no clue what ROP means but the sapphire toxic which i have is o.c to 775MHZ.
(it`s sold with this o.c.)
Running it @800 is a joke. With stock volts (which i can`t change anyway

) i reached 895. So you could run them @895 without problems. But don`t get what the xtreme part means. You could do this with 2toxics easy. No need to buy "xtreme"...
Edit2:Just saw you got the vapor-x "edition" buy a second one o.c them and you are good to go, this xtreme thing is pointless. Why buy a card which is clocked @800 when you can reach 850+ without problems

Nope, the faster card will downclock to the slower card's speeds iirc so they both match. Then from there you can OC them in tandem

But regardless, they will work just fine

The speeds are the same, but the "xtreme" edition is much faster when they bench it. And I can't find a vapor-x, but the xtreme edition is only $150.

Yeah the extremes look to be a nice refresh, and they did just release them in the past week or so. Great bang for the buck and you should be able to crossfire just fine

I just don't want my vapor-X to bring the new one down in performance, but if nothing else it is the cheapest 5850.

I have that card, I can barely push 800 and I can't adjust the voltage, even with Sapphire Trixx.

Anyone else got the cards already and tried overclocking?

I'm either gonna buy 2 of these or go for 2 6950's. There is a great price difference though, so I'm not sure.. My 6950 is already limiting me on Rift while playing on just 1080p

They changed the Vapor X to Toxic, well at least i think anyways. I own a 5850 Toxic Edition and it uses the same cooler as the Vapor X.

I've crossfired them for 805/1150 each. So far so good ;-)

They are extremely silent until 40% fan speed and running decently hot under load.
