100C is max they should go before damage.
Try to keep it under 80C though.
Yeah i figured around there. Mine are great, it never gets too high, i was just wanting to know, lol, you know how it is when bordom sets in lolo.

I see a lot of complains about this baby regarding to no video signal on cold boot.
Its never happened to me.as far as no video, i haven't had not one problem from these bad boys, i have thrown everything i have at these and they run great.
Sorry for the late reply, i was out for awhile.
I get alot of no video's on a cold boot with these 5870's. I've just learned to hit the reset button. Easy fix.

That may be the easy fix but there still a problem, have you made sure its seated well? and all your VC connections are seated as well.

As far as max temps before real damage is in the range of 100c but it you find it exceeding 85/90c alot during gaming then maybe reseating cooler with quility tim may be in order.

I was always curious about those cards. What are your idle/load temps?
I try to keep mine below 70C, but they can definitely take more heat.
i have mine o/c but my idle is 48* and load 55* fans set to 80% while gameing
How are your RAM temps? What resolution is your LCD? How OC'd are you?
well on the ccc i o/c the core to 925 and the ram to 1150.
lcd 1680x1050
It's a great card in my opinion, but it doesn't get the best reviews. Mine never goes above 63 on auto fans and currently no OC on it, but its also freagin hot in my room. Can't wait to get another and x-fire one day!

Your cards have more VRAM than you would ever need for that resolution. That setup could drive a display at 2560 x 1600...

Also, the Vapor-X's RAM tends to get really hot... That's actually the main reason I went with the Toxic. You can check your VRAM temps in GPU0z if you want. You may want to watch out for that, as my core temp never goes above 65C, even when folding, with 58% fan but my VRAM gets to 80C+ sometimes. The Toxic has OK RAM cooling, but I think my nasty RAM OC has overwhelmed them.

4890's in general run hotter than many cards of the past. I thought the temperatures on my reference model were high and I emailed Diamond support about it. They told me that the card is designed to run under constant temperatures of 90°C load.

The main purpose of the VaporX is to cool the cards quietly. It does slightly better than the other coolers but it does it at a might lower decibel level.

I love my Toxic!

When you run them in crossfire, the memory is shared. So that means you have 2GB of usable memory. This is particularly useful for Crossfire at resolutions over 1920 x 1080.

so your saying that my 2 4890's total of 4gb ram is only useing 2 gb?
yes, the data is replicated in both cards.
well even if thats the case, im kool with it. i can't even think of a bad thing to say about these cards. but if it is duplicated in both why does one card run just a little hotter than the other.?
The VAPOR-X design by Sapphire is pretty awesome, and it's pretty silent, too.
