Hello and welcome to another review.
Today' review is dedicated to great graphic card. It's from Sapphire.
Sapphire has 3 different modification of 6850 Chip.
1.Rebuilded by Sapphire and has marking looks like this 11180-00-40R.
2.Toxic Edition. Overclocked. But sill reference design. 11180-03-40R

So.I ordered and 6850 with modified cooling system.. It has aluminum radiators on VRM, so it's very good, especially for overcloсking.
But unfortunately this version of 6850 by Sapphire has no radiators on memory, so overclocking for memory is not likely.
But as you will see.... between memory chips and gpu radiator is enough space to install additional passive cooling radiators.
So. maybe i'l do it, sometime. later. Anyway, let's continue
So. here are some pictures from my unboxing and package things.

So.Let's take a look at performance of this videocard. But first of all. let's check my system specifications.

CPU Core2Quad 9450(65W) 2.66Ghz @ 4.05Ghz
MOBO Gigabyte EP45-DQ6 Bios 12
MEM OCZ DDR2 9200 1150 mhz.
HDD Seagate 7200.12 1TB
VGA Sapphire 6850 default clocks 775Mhz-GPU \ 4000Mhz-MEM
OS Windows 7 x64 No-Updates.

So, 3DMARK06 Drx 9.

So, 3DMARK Vantage Drx 10.

So, 3DMARK 11 Drx 11 Performance.

So, Unigine 2.0 Drx11.(Extreme Tesselation)

So, Devil May Cry 4 Drx10 Benchmark

So,Stalker Call of Pripyat Drx 11

So, Furmark 1.8.2

So, what can i say. I like my choise. I would buy second 6850 later.
For 1680*1050 it is a great performance.
I think it's better to have 6850 in crossfire, than 6950 or 6970 as 1 single card.

Noise Level. Idle 26% , Load under 50%. Videocard keeps silence till 60% of Fan speed. Fantastic

And this videocard is Extremely silent, During all benchmarks is was silent, and the temperature was low. So i definitely recommend this card for gaming.

Good review! I might be upgrading to one of these from my current Sapphire 5770 which I'm greatly satisfied so far but will be getting bigger displays soon so will probably need one of those. ^^

I am extremely satisfied with the card as well. I did have to RMA one after a few weeks, but I'm most certain my PSU killed it while it was going out, so I'm not going to blame the card itself.

Runs flawlessly, silently, and cool. But I'm not going to say it does any of that better then any of the other variants any better.

As much as I love my card if buying again I think I'd grab the dual fan XFX, simply because everything else in this case is black and red, when I bought this card I still had my blue tubing water cooled rig. Either way, a 6850 is exceptional performance for the price, at least for me it is.

If i have problems with FPS i would definately bought another Sapphire 6850. To perform the ultimate FPS )))

And it's very curious to see if my Core2Quad will bottleneck 6850 Crossfire. And do you really need to upgrade from Core2Quad to Corei5 1 gen, Core i7 1gen.

Just bought one. $170 + $15 MIR. Also got an Accellero S1 cooler to make it even quieter.

I did take mine apart and found something rather peculiar. There's 4 of those adhesives on the bottom of the VRM heatsinks. But I only saw 3 VRMS??? The 4th one was not on anything.

well bang for buck the 6870 is better right? you can get it for the same price

The point is that 6850 is crossfire is faster than GTX580 single
And if i go to 6870 crossfire i'll get a much higher results
I don't need 170 fps on 6870 Cross ,instead of my 140 on crossfire with 6850.
And i still have Samsung 22" 1680*1050
So my 6850 goes smooth on this resolution.
And if i need i' ll get the second.
And i don't have these money for another upgrade.

Your 3dmark 11 benchmark is with performance settings right? just benched my 5830 got p3417 its overlocked tho at 900core 1140 memory

Link? I just bought mine 3 weeks ago and 6870 was still $30-50 more depending on brand. To make room for other upgrades I went with the 6850.

I OC'd cautiously on mine. Got up to 950/1180 with 1.18v. Temps were 70C max using stock cooler. 45% fan speed and was still quiet but that don't mean much coming from me since I am hard-of-hearing.

A HIS 6870 comes within $20 of the Gigabyte 6850 AFTER a mail in rebate. But if you're like me you:

1. Can't mail in a rebate to save your life.

and

2. Wouldn't spend money on an HIS GPU to start with.

All in all 6850 is still great for the money and what you can do with it.
