Hi just built my new build.. when I power up everything turns on but I have no display. At first I thought the GPU was dead but then I noticed that the connector wouldn't go all the way into the PCIe lane on the left side because of a frame on the back of the case (used to have slots for the GPU connectors).

The problem is I believe this metal thing on the GPU http://i.imgur.com/rehQCAI.jpg that prevents it from being pushed in all the way. Normally I'd just take pliers and rip it off but it's screwed onto the PCB so I have a hard time thinking that's a good idea. I was also going to just remove the whole plate on the back of my case but I can't do that because there are no screws to remove it.

So what exactly should I do about this?

Specs
ASRock 970 Extreme3
AMD FX 4100
Sapphire Vapor-X 7770
CM HAF 912
Corsair CX500

Like I said.. everything powers on (fans and whatnot) it's just there's no signal. (although trying a few times to re-arrange the card or hold it up a bit did result in showing up the ASRock logo while booting up but it was very temporary.

Ah still doesn't work.. tried the DVI and HDMI.. also tried the PCIe x4 lane to no luck.

Anything else I should try? Is it unique that the card runs its just the black screen or is this typical?

Okay so I tried this advice and my PC works perfectly. No problems with anything... I installed Windows, played a bit of BF3, etc.

But when I went to put it back in the case I was met with the same problem. That metal plating is preventing the graphics card from being pushed fully into the PCI lane on the left side. I am sure this is the issue although I have no clue if this is just a design error or I'm missing something/mounted the motherboard wrong.

Any help/insight is appreciated as I'm sitting here unable to use my PC until I can get it to fit.
