well, ive gotten 2 dead UD4Ps. and man its hella annoying putting thermal grease on my huge hyper n520, spending 20 mins on cable management only to find you cant clock as good as you would with a 4 year old pre pci-e 2.0 board and your boot percentage on STOCK is 50/50.

some one help me, ive opted to go for a refund, get my $110 back and shoot for a different board. i know whats good, but i need feedback from people that acctualy have the boards themselves, not fanboys posting fake reviews on new egg.

so please, help a noob out

You need a board that uses DDR2 right? Because right now, I can suggest AM3 +DDR3 boards, but I'll have few in mind.

In the meantime, do still want to stick with Gigabyte brand or you prefer to try a different one?
2 dead UD4Ps???? That mobo is supposed to be awesome..... weird...
DFI DK 790GX was a great board. Loved that thing. Got well over 3.5 GHz on that board with my Phenom II 920.
Until you go Intel, you must realize that any OC you get at all is a gift.
i had the same UD4P board die on me as well, a while back.

maybe go with the asus M4A79 if they have it. Supposedly that's a sweeeet mobo.

They have an open box for 124 on the egg.
ima go for a M3N-HT deluxe
If you're using 3Gb of ram, that means either you're using unmatched sticks, or filling up three ram slots which stresses the mem controller. Either of those scenarios could easily explain your OC troubles.

Some folks have decent luck with more than two slots filled, and others have horrible luck. Using only two slots with matched sticks is your safest bet for OC ease and stability.

ive tried each stick, still doesn't like to oc. and when i first got the board it worked for 2 days at 3ghz, now it hates any overclock, my old M2N-E sli pulls off better overclocks, im going back to asus....

also, there both 4-4-4-12 2.1v 800mhz gskill sticks with the same heatsink.

2 1gbs, and 2 512mbs

Ignorant statement is ignorant.

That post made my day.

When you say "boot problems", do you mean the board starts up, resets twice, boots once more, and resets all your BIOS settings?

If so, then that's normal. It's Gigabyte's own protection system. If it senses that your overclock is unstable, it will double-restart and reset all BIOS settings. It's not a design flaw, just a security measure they have.
Just one more chirping in. My UD4P has performed well. Gigabyte's site is good; tech support via email pretty decent, too. Usually get response within 24-48 hours, and an intelligible response within another day or two of that (har har).

Has overclocked nicely for me, and that thick copper plate does seem to help keep system cool... but after 2 failed boards, yeah I'd be ready to tell Gigabyte to take a hike, too. That is ridiculous -- like last poster asked, are you certain you have faulty boards rather than just seeing symptoms of system instability?

Well then, hope that doesn't bring you more problems. Good luck!
