Well if you are just looking to get the grade, like most people in the science fair, you could always try a cheap cleaner or battery experiement. I can't tell you how much I hated the science fair, although my last year I did it, I did an experiement with my 8 foot tall trebuchet. it was pretty fun.

I pulled off electromagnets, same experiment, same everything, three years in a row already..I think it's time for something new... I'm pretty much on the same boat as you, just have to do it for a grade.

Test different insulators. What I did
Got me 96 percent. Take a cup made of a highly conductive material (Any metal, copper is best) and just pour water/a liquid at any set temperature into it, and surround it with different insulators and take the temperature reading after 5 mins, then 10 mins and compare how good of an insulator it is.

I WISH!
but...I don't have enough money to build a new rig. That could work with my rig right now though....won't be live...but it might just work.

Edit: Now that I think about it....overclocking is what I'm doing
