Seagate Fails x2?

Okay, I RMA'd a Seagate drive a couple months ago and I received a sleeker replacement. However, it is a 7200.11 (the replacement) 320gb hard drive. I got this drive before there was the whole 7200.11 drives failing discovery. Just a month or so ago I noticed that my drive has pretty poor performance. In Vista I get lag and the OS is forced to wait for the drive to spin up. I'm not sure why, but this only happens in Windows. I just ran a SMART test and I must say that I'm not too surprised. There are 3 fields that are in caution. I'm just wondering if it's worthwhile to go through their RMA process again just to possibly receive a crappy drive again. Maybe they might give me a non-7200.11 drive to solve this?

Spending the money to ship it is better than buying a new drive. If you call and explain the situation to them (2 dead drives and ask to speak to a higher up in tech support). That should solve your problem. Lol I actually have to rma a 320gb seagate drive as well...

Most companies offer free shipping for second RMA on the same item.

They normally send you over email a free prepaid UPS or FEDEX postage.
Well, I simulated the RMA process and it looks like I'll be paying for the shipping to send it. I might call them and ask for a pre-paid label, or fast shipping on their end for their faults. I don't know, thanks for the replies.
I had a dead drive shipped to me from seagate rma. I called them up and after a rep spoke to their manager they paid the advance shipment, fedex overnight, of a replacement and return shipping of the defective drive.

Taking this into consideration I suppose I might as well call them up. However, how did they pay for the shipping for you to send it to the them? I can only use USPS since FedEx and UPS don't have locations near me...

The realocated sector is a minor concern for a new drive, but as long as it's not progressing, you have noting to worry about.

Seriously though, there is zero indication that the drive needs an RMA from that SMART status report.

You are probably right about this, but I have seen noticeable performance spikes with this drive. As quoted from the OP...

I believe that this reason alone is enough information to request a RMA.

However, thank you for the confirmation, as I am not too familiar with SMART test read outs (except for blunt notifications).

Well, I contacted Seagate via e-mail and they are being very cooperative. They are going to give me a prepaid shipping label too.

Hopefully I don't have to wait too long for a replacement...
