Hi guys,

I have a Seasonic M12II 850W Bronze, and while it supplies power perfectly, its extremely loud. It sounds like a jet. I really care about noise, and it kinda sucks how every other component was designed to be quiet (My 7950 DCII for example), and then I just have a jet ruining it. If I leave my side panel open, and let the AC go into the case, its quiet during gaming. If the panel is closed, its LOUD as hell. I have a 600T..

Any suggestions? I'm thinking of just having another fan ontop of the PSU blowing air constantly, so it has the power of two fans rather than one. Or taping one to the honeycomb mesh on the back to pull the warm air out of the PSU. Please help, as I bought this "high quality" PSU because everyone says to get a Seasonic PSU.

Yeah but it also depends what you've got loading it, tbh unless you're running xfire you didn't need an 850w PSU, a decent 500w would have been sufficient.

If it's getting loud and you're looking for silent, you should probably take a look at the BeQuiet! series....

BeQuiet! Dark Power Pro P10 550W
BeQuiet! Efficient Power F1 500W
BeQuiet! Pure Power CM L8 530W
BeQuiet! Straight Power E9 500W
BeQuier! Straight Power CM E9 580W

Any of those would be more than enough...

Well I have a single 7950, and I probably am not using more than 300W during load (Which is why I am wondering why the PSU gets so loud..). I have a non overclockable CPU, so my power usage is slightly lower than normal..

BeQuiet isn't available in my country, and I don't really want to buy a new power supply. I paid the premium for Seasonic (I could've gotten like a TX850 from Corsair or a ZX 850, but chose to buy Seasonic). Do you think just putting a fan on top of the fan vent (I've faced the PSU up and down, both seem to have identical loudness levels.)

Do you think its faulty either?

I notice the same noise levels when playing minecraft.. it won't be as sudden as playing a first person shooter, but after around 5 minutes it'll be on the same sound level.

Is it fan noise? If so...

You could look at getting one of those new Seasonic 520W fanless power supplies?

0db. Perfect for your quiet needs

The seasonic has a aggressive profile with not so good fan (More noise, less CFM)
And on top of that it's a 80 plus bronze so it's to be expected. If you want 850W and want it to be quieter you should have got a gold or platinum instead (Sliver doesn't count)
But jet engine? They didn't put high spee deltas in it so i'm pretty sure it didn't sound like one (I do have overly sensitive hearing but i used to have deltas running full blast next to me)
The San Ace 120 inside is unlike any delta ... it's not THAT high pitched (San Aces are usually very high quality, lasts very long but more expensive than most fans, has a drony pitch to it)

I'll see if I can talk to a Seasonic person, or maybe the store I bought it from will allow me to exchange... I gave Seasonic another chance after my first Seasonic PSU burst into flames... never again.

Gave my M12II back, got a nice GS800 back and 50 dollars to boot too. GS800 is 100000% times better, the fan is off until 20%. Buh-Bye Seasonic, never buying from you again.

What? That's odd of your SHOPS. The corsair costs 10$ more and has less power and has teapo secondary caps. Not going to last long if at all at 40C and noisy fan at high speed and is NOT even modular
ANYONE who reads power supply reviews knows seasonic makes the best PSUs
100000% times better? SCREW YOU!

Whoa, simmer down. The v2 revision of the GS800 isn't all that bad according to the reviews I've read. Sure it isn't modular, but other than that I don't really see the problem.

Really why pay more for being non-modular? And yes i was reading the V2 review from TPU.
Most 800W units have so many cables you can stuff a whole mid-tower case worth of it

I think that the store offering the OP to trade in that M12II 850 in for an GS800 and 50 dollars was more than fair. Sure not being modular is a bit of an annoyance, but if the OP's happy then I say good for him.
