On February 10, 2009, Sega approved a patent for two controller designs, one that looks similar to the Sega Saturn 3D pad with a added touch screen device and one that looks similar to the Mega Drive/Genesis 6-button pad.[49] Sega also approved a patent for USB Flash Memory cards and Hard drive on July 7, 2009.[50] Because of these patents, rumors have been spreading that Sega is going to release a new home console based on Ring hardware in 2010 or 2011.
caught this on wiki just bored and reading but if Sega comes back to the home console market id be so darn happy. No one ever did a console like them plus its time Sonic returned home anyway

4th console in the mix? Sounds tasty.
Definitely sounds tasty.

Last Sega console I owned was the Genesis. My God, what memories I've made with it.

I'd pick up a new sega console in a heartbeat...iv been emulating there systems for years and sadly haven't had the chance yet to get my hands on a dreamcast

Sega will definitely have a spot ready on my desk next to my PC if they come back

Come on.... don't you guys remember the 32x? The Sega CD? The Saturn? Hell, the Dreamcast was canned early too. Their only sucess was the MasterSystem/Genesis.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Sega, and owned a Dreamcast instead of a PS2, but get real. Sega can't hack it, they never could.

And no, Sonic doesn't need to return home. He needs to be taken behind the shed and shot.

Yeah but I would buy it any way. Just to have it. So would you.

his 3d versions, very much so. repeatedly

also, if I'm not mistaken Sega's major successes came from being early developers of powerful arcade hardware and not consumer console development. they had the business savvy to get their arcade boxes everywhere, but they couldn't market to consumers well.

Maybe, if they build it from the ground up to be powerful enough to compete with microsoft and sony's next gen systems, and built a strong online service, they might be able to find a niche.

They just better not come out with more crappy console fps. We've got enough of those.

Sega FTW! I still love my Dreamcast, probably spent more time on that than my PS2.

its inevitable they'll bring out some fps that the consoletards will froth over.
But its still going to be hard to compete with the (uhhh cant believe im saying this) "hardcore" consoles like the 360 or ps3 and the cant really go in the casual gamer direction like the wii..well because its dominated be the wii.

No. Only Sonic's friends not named Tails or Knuckles should be shot.

beside the point, it'll be awesome if sega does do something like this. I'd actually still buy a console.... maybe.
