Seperate PSU for video...

I've got an old Delta 480W PSU lying around and was wondering what I would need to do to run my video card off of it...

You would need to slave the PSU to your primary PSU so they turn on at the same time. You also need to make sure to place a decent load on the 3.3v+5v rails of the auxillary PSU for load balancing.
how would I accomplish that?

Note that these mainly are 20-pin PSUs. The newer 24-pin follow the same procedure except they have an additional 4-pins at the end.

To load balance, apply a LARGE resistor to the 5v rail or have the second PSU power some HDs.

Howy many HDD's would it take to sufficiently load the second PSU? rep+ by the way

Depends on the PSU.

k, so I splice into ground and ps-on wires on the "master" PSU (one in sig) and wire the ground and ps-on from the slave to that and electrical tape the open wires? Will I lose any voltage/amps by splicing this way? So that's it other than making sure to load the 3.3 and 5.0V rails on slave PSU?
