Setting up 4 GX2s on XP (having issues)

418 Views 13 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  mortimersnerd
I just installed the 182.08 drivers. I have all 4 cards showing up. I disabled SLI and physX. THe issue is that I only see 4 monitors total, not 8. How can I fix this?

Edit: I can only fold on 3 cores.

mobo with 4 pcie slots

as i recall, XP is limited to 4 cores, so only 4 cores can do a monitor
thus you cant enable a monitor for the other 4 cores

No, they are dual slot I belive, they are just on a board that has 4 pcie slots and can fit 4 dual slot cards.

Nitteo and Knitelife are running 4 GX2s on XP so it is definitely possible.

Yeah, they will stop by and explain it, but it does no good for others if they tell me in PM. It should be on the forum to help others that may build similar rigs.

Good point.
Not sure if it was brought up, but you do have 8 dummy plugs total, right? 2 for each card, one for each core.

You don't need dummy plugs for XP, which is nice.

I actually have the same problem.

I run only 3x GPUs and I have a rig that only shows 2x GPUs. I re-installed XP and drivers and still have the same problem. I came to the conclusion that its a bad board with a bum PCI-e Slot. I moved GPUs around on slots and found the bottom and middle slots dead. This was a MSI K9A2 Platinum board.

So check each PCI-e slot by moving a single GX2 around.

I have 6 cores working now. For some reason they dropped to like 1k ppd per core a few mintues ago. Any idea whats causing that?
