Following up on word that Blizzard's Diablo III won't arrive in 2010, studio design VP Rob Pardo has admitted that the delay-heavy studio behind World of Warcraft and StarCraft has "always announced all of our games too early."

Not me

Blizzard ALWAYS delivers an epic product. However, hopefully their ties with ACTIVISION don't make them the next InfinityFAIL.

^^^^, but they do say they do not work on titles together in that way. You know the previously made series hopefully Activision never dipped its nose in these which I don't think they did. This is typical blizzard announcing early and delivering a product that is almost always spot on.
At least a year and a half left for Diablo III? Its visuals already look outdated, it's gonna look like crap in 2011.
OFC Blizzard will release it when every average Joe can run the damn thing.

Have you EVER played a game made by blizzard? Ever?

Graphics are the only lacking department (not at all, really, but I see your point), and that has never stopped nearly everything they touch from being the most beloved games of all time. With such widespread popularity and lengthy life of the games, why would they aim for the enthusiast market? Get over yourself and the 5970 you rode in on.

Taking a page out of Valve's playbook. Sadly, they both can get away with it.
This is VERY saddening news....:swearing: So I'm pissed. I was really looking forward to Diablo sometime next year, but I guess I should of expected this delay.

PS- I wish the graphics were better. I watched some video of it the other day and was kind a let down. Oh wells, I know it'll be fun.
I love seeing how everyone defends the fact that Diablo II / WoW are successful because most people can run them. Well, then, what about the huge portion of gaming demographic that prefer visually enhanced games?
We all know that Crysis was a bunch of crap for story and single player gaming, but how much hype rose due to it's graphical engine and visual effects? With GPU's and visuals heading the way they are it's time to admit that releasing a graphically updated and pleasing game is another big way to sell your game to customers, this is 2009, I mean, cmon! What do you think other games will look like in 2011? They're certainly going to make Diablo III look EXTREMELY outdated.

Torchlight 2, anyone?

PS. No, I'm not saying that people with older computers shouldn't be able to run the game, I'm saying there should most definitely be a high quality option worthy of current GPU power at the time or release.

I also agree.
I really despise elitist. After all, Gameplay > Graphics.

Games blizzard makes are good enough in terms of graphics. I mean Warcraft III is not the best looking but even after playing a game like Crysis u can still play it after unlike some games which are only depended in graphics lose their value quite fast.

Please, don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to say that graphics is more important that gameplay in a game, because it's not in any way, what I'm trying to say is that in this day if you're looking to really open up both your game and audience and up to date and polished graphics engine is a serious requirement.

I understand that, but it is true what you are stating. Today's demands are polished graphics and great gameplay. I mean look at Crysis, it has great graphics, but at the same time, it lacks gameplay. I got bored after 10 minutes. I think that Game Developers should be looking at the mainstream instead of the Enthusiasts department.

I don't doubt that it'll have meager visuals, but bear in mind that it's still a long way from being released. There's certainly plenty of time to refine visuals.

I don't think I can stress enough how infuriating I find this sort of thing. Blizzard`s strategy seems to be create YEARS of expectation for each of its games. I don't even know if I'll want to play it by 2011
.

BTW, was the game really so unfinished? back when the teaser came out, along with a gameplay video, it seemed things were well on their way, and that was a long time ago...
