Sharing RAM with NIC?

298 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  legoman786
So last night while doing some boredom surfing, I came across an article (sorry, no link) that stated sharing about 4096KB with my NIC would make my internet faster.

Basically, I need to do some Registry changes to get the IRQ on which the NIC is used and share some RAM with it.

I wanna know... how safe is sharing only 4MB of RAM with my NIC and what kinds of benefits will I see with bandwidth?

I have never heard of anything like that, do you have a link to the article?

I don't see how adding ram to the MAC Table would help at all honestly.
I saved it, that's why I don't have a link...

Code:
Code:
REMOVED TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO COMPUTERS
EDIT: Oh whoops... that sharing RAM thing is only for Win 9x... my bad
If you run a speed test and it is showing the advertised speeds for your internet provider then it couldn't possibly be faster. I've never heard of anything like that, sounds interesting though.

Yeah because a NIC is used only for the internet. No one uses a network.

Yeah, you shouldn't bother, unless you have Bittorrent, or some form of P2P maxing out the active connections.

Honestly, I don't see how you would have any performance gain in this at all.

You could give it a try, but I don't think you will see any gain in games, internet browsing, or anything like that.

Ok then, I guess I'll just let this collect dust.
