Hey guys, so I've got a bit of a problem...my friend is using SharpKeys to remap some keys on his keyboard (wants to delete Ctrl+Alt+Del) and he remapped Ctrl to q...yea, he can't login anymore. He needs his computer by tomorrow. He's tried booting in Safe Mode, no go, same problem. Do you guys know how to fix this?

PS: He had been experimenting previously, this is a message he sent me when he had changed his a to a b and his password involves a's, attached for the lulz:

Why bre my b's bll being replbced with b's? becbuse thbt's whbt it does. My pbssword hbs bn b in it. I hbd b lot of trouble logging bbck in - my pbssword, stbge, restbge, bnd my superuser pbssword bll hbve b's. in them. I got rid of the chbnge - Once I log out bnd in bgbin the keys will be bbck to normbl. Bbsicblly, it's b lot more complicbted thbn stopping b script to reverse this progrbm. I'll see if it cbn block ctrl-blt-del - I hbve b feeling it will. Becbuse seriously, if I didn't know better I'd sby it bctublly f**** with the hbrdwbre.

well from what I have found, if you do manage to get into his account, if he can open SharpKeys, there should be an option where he can remove all of the mappings from the keys, then after that he should reboot and will work.

If he cant get into his account download Hirens Boot CD or something and run one of the password crackers as they reset the passwords to blank.

Let me know how you get on

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies

It wasn't his password that was the problem, it was the fact that he had remapped the del key as being q, and hadn't mapped the q key to be del, so, in effect, the del key did not exist anymore, which made it quite difficult to log-in in Windows 7, as you can imagine

What he ended up doing is bringing up the virtual keyboard, holding down ctrl+alt on the real keyboard and del on the virtual one, and it let him in. He then reset the key map. He was teased all the day the next day, much fun was had by all

So yea, if you guys need a key remapper, SharpKeys is the way to go, just don't do foolish things
