Thanks for setting things up zodac!

Are any of you experienced folders? I am not new to computers or OC, but I just began folding about a week ago. Finally I'm getting bonus points!

I suggest that the most senior and experienced folder be captain. We also need someone willing to coordinate the team and who is an active forum member. Any takers?

I vote for to_the_zenith as captain and shizzle tang as well
I really like the diversity of our team!

Nice work on the first post zenith!

Sorry I took last night off from folding, but I was stress testing instead. I was able to achieve the following improvement over my previous configuration:
RAM from 1642MHz 8-8-8-24 to 1524MHz 7-7-7-16
CPU/NB from 2772MHz to 2860MHz
HT from 2156MHZ to 2002MHz (closer to 2000MHz is faster)

From what I've read here (and my own tests), this is a pretty sizable improvement in speed. It is 8+ hours of prime95, LinX, and Furmark stable. Let's see how this affects my PPD

I have parts for a new X6 folding system on the way as well as a RAM upgrade for my current system. Is it against the rules or anything to run both systems for our team? Can I use the same passkey on both?

I use one passkey for the team, and another one for all other components folding for me.
Makes sense. I will only use one of the two machines for the team then and I will fold with the other with a different passkey.

That's great! Keep up the good work and never stop learning!

I am happy to help if I can. I actually founded and own two companies. One is a software company where I was the CTO for 7 years and the other is an internet retailer. My background is in technology and business and I know quite a few languages myself. My specialty is dynamic database-driven web apps (LAMP) and I have designed and managed teams to build enterprise-level software used by big and small clients. I have worked on several college text-books (companion discs) on "how to program".

Alas, I am not very artistic :/

Are you sure your CPU/NB and HT are stable? I thought my OC was stable until I began folding as well. Try running 3 threads of prime95, 3 LinX, and furmark at the same time. Make sure to configure prime95 and LinX to use all available RAM combined. That will stress your CPU, RAM, and CPU/NB. If you see errors, lower your OC until you get to a stability point and can make further changes individually

Glad I'm helping someone with my ramblings :p

Running a higher clocked CPU/NB will certainly improve your performance. If you are at a stability point now, consider upping the CPU/NB voltage and trying the higher speed again. I need 1.375V to achieve 2860MHz on the IMC. Click into my sig rig for more details if you want. Unless you run 2000MHz RAM, there is not much benefit to going higher than that - and with an AMD system, you should focus on tighter timings instead of faster RAM clock.

Sweet!

Also, I installed some new OCZ Reaper RAM yesterday and I have it running stable at 1524MHz 1.73V with 5-7-5-16-24-1T timings. My TPF has been reduced by 5-10%
When idle, my TPF is at 00:02:40 for SMP A3 UWs.

Or was the bad voltage 1.8V for ddr3, dunno.
Actually, these are designed with good heat dissipation for high voltage. They are covered under warranty up to 1.8V, but some folks have run them up to 2.2V. I have two 120mm fans in a push/pull right next to them too.

Take a look at the heat pipe/sink:

For RAM speed, it depends on what you're going to be doing with your computer. For 100% folding, I would choose lower timings over faster speed. Overall, AMD likes tighter timings and Intel likes faster clock, but there are exceptions. In addition, AMD's current IMC may have a tendency to bottleneck RAM at too high a clock speed.

To minimize any bottleneck, I prefer the best blend between clock and timings so that your system is fast at everything. Shoot for 2800-3000MHz on the CPU/NB (anywhere in that range is fine). As for your choices, I would do with the GEIL if you can. Stick with CL6 and increase the clock as much as you can.

Check my sig rig for another RAM possibility
Good luck!

Now i want to buy my new mobo + ram instead of the haf x

Dunno what to do, my temps are fine as they are so i will benefit more from new mobo + that ram( i can always get the haf x later). Advice ?

If your temps are fine, go for the new MB and RAM
Yes, the OCZ Reaper HPC 1600 6-8-6-24 are the ones that I have. They are covered under warranty up to 1.8V, but some have tested them up to 2.2V

Ok I will wait. I am just hoping that this isn't happening because I just upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10. I don't think I was done with my previous WU yet.
