Good work LethalRise; I reckon I'll have to have a crack this weekend at bringing my proc up to 4Ghz too hey

I was going to wait till November when it'll go on water, but hey, can't let the team down now can I

Cheers

Actually that's my first attempt at making a post look all fancy and what not.

Geez looks like my cpu is a step behind the eight ball at the moment, can't wait till bonus points kick in on this thing.
And just PM'd tismon, haven't heard if actually folding for the team yet.

975 on stock HSF

That's awesome! Give it 24hrs to be sure before I'll update the FP.

Wish I'd stuck with Gigabyte purchases instead of cheaping out on Palit... get what you pay for hey.
It's been less than a week and I'm already thinking of throwing the Musashi onto my 8800GT and getting another different (better) cooler for the 460.

Yeah i gotta sort out some better airflow in my HTPC, it's way too constrictive; at 775MHz the 460 atm is running 76C.
Hoping to see some improvement when i get the USB to Gigabit adaptor delivered so I can remove the wireless adaptor and just have the pci slot open air. I'm still trying to figure out the best fan layout in this particular case and also which works better, positive or negative pressure.

3. Are all of you on multiple teams (cpu, gfx, etc)?
1. yep, throw that in FAH and your set.

2. I haven't stumbled across a thread explaining how it works either, but from what I've gathered... Each person folds for 37726 under one username. Each username may acquire multiple passkeys (assigned per email address). These passkeysare how OCN distinguishes the team members. Each user assigns an individual passkey to the component contributing to the team; a user may have another passkey that is used for all other components (or individually if they so choose).
Zodac may wish to correct me if I got anything wrong.

3. Nope, as Zodac mentioned to me when I though of doing same, "Conflict of interests". OCN doesn't have GPU only teams anymore, just the multi-components; I guess to help stop any fanboyism.

That's cool, but no can't add it to the team, otherwise we'd have an advantage of one extra component. You can still use it to fold though, it'll just need a different passkey.
I use one passkey for the team, and another one for all other components folding for me.

Yeah, no there's no point currently for GPU's. I know some users do have individual passkeys per component to monitor total points & WU's. meh... HFM shows me PPD and that's all most people really care about ay.

Saw a red HAF X the other day, looked pretty cool... very "individual", I wouldn't have it in red personally. Yes those HAF's r da bomb, would've bought one if I had some extra coin at the time when I bought the Tempest Evo; quite please with this one, but soooo hanging to next pay day to buy a fan controller.

Wow Klaxian that's quite a decent background!!
Career wise in IT all I've done is IT Service Desk for 9mths... i feel such the under achiever, and nicksasa just had to rub it in, LOL. Well I'm looking at a career change in November, so hopefully will be able to get back into the IT side of things again.
PC's have always just been a hobby of mine (& Dad's) and have owned (and built with my dad from the ages of 5 to 10 then, then by myself) at least one of every single intel family starting from the 8086, except for the latest "i" series; also to the list quite a few from AMD and even some Cyrix... jeez remember the days when people were 'amazed' when 3.5's came out to replace the 5.25's; waahhh, "it's smaller but holds twice as much!"

yeah 'bout the same, maybe a shade less. Average TPF over the various WU's works out to be about 6m30s, which is pretty line ball btwn the 10 - 12hr turnarounds I see with the different WU's.

Sorry guys, didn't get round to the attempt at 4GHz on the QX9650 on the weekend.
My HTPC has been playing up ever since I installed the Sythe Musashi on the 460 earlier last week; I'm getting these random "hardware issue" BSODs. I have a feeling my mobo is going to let go sometime soon, the onboard LAN chip stopped working two weeks ago, so been running wireless and now this new issue.

I'm going to upgarde the CPU to a 1055T next month, but I have a feeling I may end up spending more than anticipated. A new mobo, probs DDR3 ram too, seeing as new DDR2 mobo's are getting harder to find... this better not cut into the watercooling budget for the sig rig!!

That's interesting... we both have quads, mine is clocked lower than yours plus it feeds two GPU's instead of one and the Intel still gets a lower TPF than you.

How have you set yours up? How does it compare to what I have setup:

- systray for all three.
- gpu's set low and cpu idle (all set 100%)
- - I found setting affinity for 3 cores with smp and 1 for both gpus actually decreased ppd by around 800, so it's running all 4 cores again. Although tonight I might see if setting affinity on just the GPU's to one core makes any diff.
***edit - smp 4 cores, with gpu set for affinity to just of (of any of of the four cores) is marginal diff; fluctuates 200 above/below from original capture, so no real gain there***
- set gpu's priority to 'Realtime', set cpu priority to 'Above Average' (only done via Task Manager at the moment)

The Tempest Evo is a pretty good case for air cooling, I know first hand
... what temps are you running while folding currently at stock?
I know their TDP of 68C'ish is pretty low to work with but theoretically you should be able to bump it up to 3GHz at least with the stock HSF.

So with -bigadv at stock how much was it estimated to go over the deadline?
Have you got big plans for the cooling situation? Because if that's a little way down the track you could just pick up reasonable HSF solution now and flog it off later on. My OCZ Vendeatta2 was like $45 and it works a treat, it aint the greatest but there are other good cheap ones out there too, it certainly meets my needs for the time being though.

I think I'll definitely wait for watercooling before going for the 4Ghz on the sig rig... Going intothe warmer months here, had a 29C day yesterday and the cores were to 62C average; considering the TDP of this chip is only a few more degrees than that, I don't want to risk it while I'm away at work.
