as i have a raid 0 setup with my two 500gb i dont need all that space, cause all the movies are on my external atm...
any instructions on how to short-stroke on windows vista ultimate?

nope, i dont want to re-install the os, not now too trouble some

You can try shrinking your partition down using the windows disk management tool and then deleting the extra space so that it becomes unallocated.

Note: that if you have two partitions you'll probably only be able to shrink the one furthest to the right in the disk management tool.

So, if you only have 1 partition (C:\\) then you're all good.

If you have C:\\ and D:\\ for example, you'll probably only be able to shrink D:\\ down and then delete all the space after D:\\ so that it becomes unallocated disk space.

all you have to do is have a small partition. It's up to you whether you use the rest for storage or leave it unallocated/unformatted.

because they are raid i only have one partition but i cant seem to find that tool so i can shrink the space

windows has a generic one or you can use something like EASEUS partition manager.

thanks a lot for that, so the max i was able to shrink was to bring my drives up to 500gb which is half the size of a raid, can i undo this if i want to?

You can't undo, but you can extend the partition.

Also if Vista disk manager can't do something, use GParted (Live CD).

i don't know what that's all about... i just use easus partition manager... does everything without a fuss.
