That's $1300 retail at absolute most for the parts... Are you buying this prebuilt?

OC depends on the motherboard, and the CPU. And probably the heatsink too. Maybe 4Ghz at most.

Seems flipping expensive.... Oh you forgot the motherboard.

Umm I duno. Do you actually need the money for other things? It'll obviously be worth the upgrade.

You can do better, try buying some used stuff.

Swap the Dark Knight for a Mugen 2, and get pretty much any other RAM (the Ballistix kits' quality is garbage nowadays).

yeah but the mugen 2 outperforms a DK, i should know had them both, lol. I would find combos man TBH, that looks like you aren't trying to find deals. The smart thing might be to just wait a few weeks for all the big x-mas sales and save even more.

sad thing is, these are in combos T_T.
its just that newegg raised their damn prices this past week.
the stupid 640gb went up about 15 bucks
the stupid x58sli le went up a good 20 bucks
the stupid i7 is now 288, *** the other day it was just at 272
they released the tempest evo at 99.99, now its 109.99
and the deal with the 750hx is gone and they only have the one with the 850hx. which is sad cuz i only need a 750 for my purposes and it turns out that getting the combo with the 850 is 10 bucks cheaper than getting the 750hx and the x58sli le seperately T_T.

thanks alot though i think i will wait it out, if nothing comes up during christmas im just gonna wait it out till the 930's come out

Right now the prices are pretty much the highest they'll be this year - Thanksgiving is over, and Christmas isn't here, yet. I was thinking of buying some upgrades myself and realized that the prices are just not favourable at all ATM.

Also, a bunch of new CPUs will be coming out in a month or two, including AMD's Tuliban and Intel's i5/i3s (and possibly i9) and that should push some prices down.

If you can wait a month, do it, or at least wait 2 weeks till Christmas.

This. higher performance RAM isn't really worth the price. You might be much better off getting some cheaper RAM and OCing it yourself. In other words, you can get better bang for your buck by buying cheaper RAM and, say, better GPU.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

If you're trying to save money, you could get an AMD Phenom II x4 955. Plenty of benchmarks show that they're just as good and sometimes even better in games than the i7 920 when overclocked over 3.6GHz. An AM3 motherboard would probably be cheaper too...
