If it still has the 3 year extended warranty, then you could give it a shot.

Check the serial on the back on xbox.com to see if it's still valid (you have to sign up to see, it only takes 2 minutes).

Just do it. $10 is nothing... if worst comes to worst blow it up on the street or something... thats worth $10 in itself.

true i probably will after he gets back from spring break but my main
question is there places you can have fix it for like $50 or so. That way i can still make some money but make sure it works.

Id See whats wrong with it first. Cause if its just the RROD then its a simple enough fix to do it yourself.

You can't send it to Microsoft because it's already going to be opened. The 3 year warranty only covers RROD consoles and cannot be opened already.

Honestly you can buy it and play with it but if it has anything else wrong then it won't be of any use. Also even if you get it fixed it'll only be temporary and will fail again so unless you feel like messing with it then go ahead.

Don't even bother trying to send it to Microsoft, because they won't take it, and if you try replacing the Warranty sticker then that's illegal.

Also, they can tell easily by looking at the casing serial number and the number on the motherboard. There is usually a REV sticker on the motherboard which states the same information basically as the back of the console. Those won't match up and they won't take it with the sticker being broken.

$10 isn't much, so you can get it and just attempt an X-Clamp fix and use it for the time being but it won't last long.

If you do sell it I hope you are honest about it and let them know that it was repaired and is not going to be working permanently, considering the X-Clamp fix will end up failing again.

As long as you aren't going to rip someone off then good luck.

Well, people consider repaired meaning fully functional and not going to fail again. Repairing the 360 is only a temporary repair and over time it will fail again.

Yeah. I just know it would be wrong to sell someone a repaired console knowing that it will eventually fail again.

Anyways, cheers. If you get it fixed with casing and a PSU and cables you can out it on eBay and tell what was wrong and it was repaired and get around $100.
