I know a guy that might sell me his 4870x2 for $150. It has been used 24/7 for folding and gaming how long im not sure. I think so anyways. So would I be able to use it with my current gpu? Do you think it would be worth it?

you would not be able to crossfire it with current GPU in crossfire but if you sell your 4870 this would be a good deal because 4870x2 is a good card.

tri fire is possible. I answered that question for myself. It would work. But would it be worth it?

For $150, sure

Especially since youve got a 24" monitor... youll be playing DX10 titles at full res and high settings until they stop making them

The 4870x2 is still the third or fourth most powerful card on the market. For $150 I'd buy it in a heartbeat, and trifire would be a neat experiment.
I guarrantee you that if i could find another working and in good shape 4870x2 for $150, my feet would barely even touch the ground trying to get to my bank as fast as I could LOL... I would love to see what I would bench with Quad CFX
Thanks! Im just waiting on the guy to get a 5870 first, then its mine!!
No.. you should get a 5770 and then later on get another 5770. With this combo you still get the FPS and you get less power usage when your not gaming.
If I could get one for that price, I would scream, I want one so bad.

Now that would just be silly. 2x5770's are roughly equal to a 4870x2, but cost $400 instead of $150. Plus he already has a 4870 so he'll get tri-fire for $150 bucks.

OP, obviously as everyone ELSE has said, this is sweet deal, dude. I'd jump on it if I was in your shoes.
