Greetings,

I am using a Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Gamer card since 2007 and I recently purchased the M-Audio Studiophile AV40 2.0 Speakers. Shall I upgrade my sound card to a Creative Titanium HD (or perhaps another one) mostly for gaming and music/movies?

I am kinda new to soundcards in general, so I could use some advice to select a decent quality card for my 2.0 speakers.

That's a tough call. You will see an improvement but I'm not sure whether you would justify replacing the existing (cost considerate) card for that improvement. Personally, I came from another x-Fi card (fatal1ty extreme gamer) and I noticed a nice gain with my Titanium HD but to be fair: my excuse was an upgrade for the wife's gaming rig (she got my old card).

So... if you have the cash and don't mind spending it, the TiHD is nice, especially with the PAX drivers.

Maybe a sub for your 2.0 setup instead?
