So, I've got my current system, and I've got the upgrade itch...I was waiting on BD, but that was silly, so now I'm unsure if I've got enough processor at the moment. Would upgrading to the fastest 1156 processor make sense? What about going 1155 and hopping on the SB train? I want to upgrade my GPU, but with the next generation around the corner, I'm going to pass on the currently available cards. The two things I'd like to potentially grab is an 8gb kit of ram, and a WD Velociraptor and an SSD. Though, I think an SSD is still more than I want to spend/GB...

Anyway, any suggestions are welcome, thanks!

Your system is fine, I would sit back for X79, that's going to be the big one.

If you must upgrade SB for sure but your current CPU is just fine!

I'm in a similar boat with the SSD issue... In reality it's really the best thing to ugrade and will probably be my next purchase. As soon as I find a good deal on a M4 128gb I'm pulling the trigger. I can at least relate it to years back when the only real option was mechanical hard drives and well over what SSD's are currently per gb.

If you grab a velociraptor, imma smack you! They are outdated and obsolete. Instead like you said, buy a SSD (they are an amazing purchase, i will never go back to HDD's for booting) and just use your F3's for storage.

Your CPU is fine, for now. If you wanted to try and sell your rig and build i a new one, that is what i did and my build was about 900 out of my pocket.

I'd rather not spend that much out of pocket. I like the 600gb velociraptor, still a fast mechanical drive, small, and 600gb...what about that in combination with a small SSD for the OS?

you can buy a 64GB SSD drive AND a 1tb storage drive for less then that veloci, they are just ******ed now and dont you dare buy one, a SATA III on a HDD does NOT! do anything, the increase is not even noticeable

I don't need that much storage internal though, and the Raptor is still faster than the larger drives would be. I just don't like that I'm paying well over $1/gb for an SSD.
