Recently I tried installing Slackware Current on a JFS partition on an M.2 Samsung SSD. It's about 9% slower than ext4 in some benchmarks but impossible to detect in any actual application including gaming
BTW the task/panel bar is normally on AutoHide for super clean look.
I may have posted this wallpaper before but I'm excited since I just upgraded to Slacxkware 15.0-RC1 and it R0X! Check out Plasma 5 resource usage!! It's Lean 'n Mean now. Looks like the screenie caught the RAM usage of "Print Screen". Still not bad but 1-2% is common idle usage.
Kinda sad so few post screenies these days but I'm getting really excited since a couple days ago Slackware 15.0 was elevated to RC2. I've been using Slackware as my Main Daily Driver for a little more than 20 years and I don't know if Patrick is working extra hard to raise the already stratospheric standards but this RC2 even more solid and polished that most final releases have been, certainly immensely more killer than when KDEv4 came out.
The present official kernel is a bit ahead of me since I roll my own for low-latency, realtime multimedia work and play. I'm still on 5.14.8 while official is on 5.15.x. Anyway this is my latest....
Incidentally that usage is with full Plasma 5 replete with all "the baddies" akonadi, baloo, etc. Seriously anyone even vaguely interested in possibly the cleanest, simplest, most empowering distro around should consider devoting a little drive space to try this out. It's epic!
Looks great Tadaen! Very clean. Aside from still occasionally visiting my OpenSuse install, lately my Main is still Slackware, now Official v15.0. However I recently bought an ARM device, a RockPro64, which I've setup mostly as a NAS. Since I installed Aarch64Slackware on it which rewrote UBoot, I can now very easily multiboot so I can switch between Slack, OpenSuse Tumbleweed, Manjaro, OpenMediaVault, and any other system I can install on eccm, MicroSD, or SATA SSD. I have KDE on Slackware but was really pleased to succeed at installing Enlightenment E25 on ARM. I'm hoping to get a cheap touchscreen to explore a few different distros and DEs in preparation for getting a PinePhone Linux phone. I'll put up some screenies soon.
