silver arrow vs H50

I know this has probably been discussed alot already but im just after people personnal preferences.

p.s. its either of these so please dont start saying other coolers.

I know the silver arrow is the better cooler, slightly quieter, but teh fact is teh corsair is water cooled and water is ace. (only air cooled before).

I really know i should get the silver arrow and my machine will love me for it.

I am just stuck can you all please help convince me.

also i am gettin mobo heat sinks before i upgrade the cooler.

I would also run push/pull on the h50.

My goal is to get my AMD phenom II X6 1075t to 4ghz will both of these do it but which 1 will keep the cpu cool.

Max temp on phenom is 62C i believe.

All help and advice thanked.

Make sure you have some good heatsinks on the mosftets before you try overclocking an x6 to 4.00GHz on that mobo, and I hope you have a decent PSU as well.

As for the cooler, are you sure the silver arrow is going to fit inside your case? Those Coolermaster Elite cases are pretty small. It was tough fitting a modded AC Freezer 64 Pro in mine (my garage PC), much less a beastly heatsink like a silver arrow. The H50 will probably be the better choice in that case.
If you can fit the SA, it's a much better cooler.
The H50 is no match for the Silver Arrow. It's better than a NH-D14, which is better than the H70 by a lot. It's probably the most high end cooler on the market. Why even consider the H50 when the Silver Arrow beats the H70? Get that cooler!

These are the mosfet coolers im gonna get unless u can recommend any better ones?
i know its just the fact of water cooling is making me oogle
Trust me, the wow factor of water cooling will go away once you realize that the Silver Arrow can cool tons better.

Well I would measure the clearance from the mobo to your side panel and then look up the height of the silver arrow, just to be sure. If it fits, I would definitely go with the Silver Arrow. If not, you'll have to look at a different cooler or see if you can make some room (mod).
well specs are case width - 190mm obviously gotta lose a few for mobo inset and wat not
the silver arrow height is 160mm

so it should fit
right measured it has about 1 / 2 cm's spare gulp is that gonna screw it all up as its so close to the side of my case?

Yup.

Only reason to consider H5/6/70 is due to size constraints of RAM heatspreaders and/or the case.
If your trying to get wow factor out of an H50 there really is non... Other people that have them think they are cool but a lot of people that have custom loops dont really recognize them as true watercooling, ie no WOW. LOL.... I think a high end air cooler, SA, will be much better and Id do high end air over H50/H70 any day

Its not really water cooling in the sense of the term. I mean yes there is water in it, but all you do is install it. Its a closed loop, no messing with water for you. But I would definitely get SA.
Love my H70! Good temps, easy to install, clean clean product!!! Though a few high end air coolers may out perform the h50/h70 slightly. I like the closed loop pre fab water hybrid systems. IMO you cant beat them for ease of install, clean look, and good temps.

Wow that is a pretty tight squeeze. As long as you will be able to close the side panel, you should be good, or worst case scenario you just leave the side panel off lol.
side panel off with a 2 year old a baby on the way and 2 cats = bye bye new computer.

Would the H50 allow me to get to 4ghz and still be under 60c.

atm im overclocked to 3.3 on the stock cooler and it hits 58C
The Silver Arrow outperforms Noctua's NH-D14 slightly, and the NH-D14 ouperforms the H50/H70 By several degrees. Just because it uses liquid doesn't mean its better. Get the silver arrow.
I was debating on the H50 and the Silver Arrow. I chose the latter and boy am I glad. I do not see more than a 20*C swing on my CPU from idle to full load. Max temps I hit (room ~70*F) is 48*C.

Silver Arrow is a beast, you have to watch for clearance of ram and such. One thing that people dont mention, is the fins can be sharp. I got cut installing it (think the blood sacrafice helped ease the cooling gods anger). I would also suggest getting a 3rd party paste. The stock paste is good but my Artic Silver 5 works much better (after the set up time).

Good luck!

Edit: Also Even though I have PWM support, my second fan on my SA doesnt run at nearly the RPM of the fan thats plugged into the CPU fan power. I am thinking about getting a splitter and running both the fans off the one port so i can keep them at the same speed.

I think that if you had the fan that is in "push" a little faster then the pulling fan it is optimal, You are pushing though a bunch of fins vs pulling the pushed air away, Should be able to make the push fan 'faster' using what you have
