Description:

iandh's KillCoils are approx. 1.3g of pure anti-algae/antimicrobial ass kickery in the form of 0.999 fine silver! The tightly wound helical shape (about 11.4mm OD) lends itself to easy insertion into tubing and many reservoirs while, at the same time, being just large enough to prevent passing through fittings and into your cooling components.

Instructions & Ingredients:

Use: Place coil in a section of tubing or in a reservoir.
Active Ingredient: 99.9% pure silver

Warning: This product contains...uh...Silver!

• If ingested, you may choke... so just don't do that.

• If contact with skin occurs, smile... you're holding silver!

• AVOID CONTACT WITH EYES! If contact with eyes occurs... wait, why are you shoving metal coils into your eyes?

They can be used either in conjunction with, or as a non-toxic PT nuke alternative for those with pets or small children in the house.

They also can be reused potentially for years.
they've had their silver fittings out for a while now (they're actually blue in color). can't beat the ease of water and silver i guess.
The question is why? Other than not having to buy PT nuke...but how long will this last? Forever? Does it ever lose it's killing qualities? Plus restriction (probably not much)?
I just saw these the other day on Petra's, and I'm curious. Can someone break down for me dummy-style what exactly these things do?

I'm guessing that they purify the coolant in some fashion, am I wrong?

Silver has anti-microbial properties without being toxic.

Basically, they kill algae and other creepy crawlies to keep them from growing in the loop.

they hinder the microbe and algae respiratory functions... thus making them not able to live - yay.

restriction is probably less than any fittings you have, plus you can just drop it into your reservoir. you dont' have to put it in your tubing.

Bingo. Another kickass product by iandh

I rather use PT Nuke

PT Nuke = 0 restriction
Silver Killcoil = some degree of restriction as well as a loose part in your rig

No it wont loose its killing qualities because the silver will not stop being silver. I've even seen experiments with putting silver dust/flakes in paints that go in hospitals, nursing homes and the like to kill microbes on the walls because its good at doing the job, never wears out, and it's non toxic.

Could one use this in an open loop, such as a bong? I'd think this would be great for something like that. And is only one good enough for an entire loop?
So just distilled water + iandh silver thing..... That's all i'll need?
A little bit about AB-Ag and
Here

Ag is a really interesting metal. (Well, about as interesting as a metal CAN be, anyhoo)
I don't understand why people make such a big deal out of silver. A bottle of PT Nuke is cheaper and all you need is 2 drops. It is like someone mentions silver and half of our WC forum starts gushing giddly like school girls... LOL

Hehe
I'm not gushing about silver... merely wetting my pants! (jk)

Thing is though, silver is a relatively cheap metal and will pretty much last forever. Also, if ever you need to discard the water from any system involving silver, you can be pretty damn sure that water is all that you will discard into the drain - rather than a bunch of chems (sequestered copper for one); there is only *so much* water in the world and it needs to be kept clean

I guess maybe it's just me, but I personally would be wary of having anything loose in my loop
wonder if a few of these would help in my koi pond ;D
