Simple 500GB External HDD

383 Views 12 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  xxicrimsonixx
Was given to me as a gift at random from a family member and I don't think I have a use for it. All I know is its NIB, USB 2.0(maybe firewire) and that its a 500GB Harddrive. Speed not certain, maybe 7200RPM.

Price? Thanks!

Is it a big sit on desk type? or like a small portable type one? You don't know the brand name?

The company name is Simple and I found out its a 5400RPM drive and its not really too portable.

well no matter how fast the hdd is, you can only use it at USB 2.0 Speeds
so all you can use it for is storing data (backup)

or for media type files, you can't install and run programs off it, or install an operating system , it would be to slow for that kind of use

its fine for storing music pictures, video and playing them off it

i have a External 1TB Western Digital for backup (for all the pcs in the house)

Sounds like I'm better off trading/selling this. Thanks!
