Simple Win7 Desktop question

I like Windows 7 so far; it's pretty nifty, and seems to be an improvement over Vista in several respects.

There's one thing that I just can't figure out though. How do I make my desktop wallpaper image stay put? I've been messing around with the settings to no avail; my desktop images revert to a solid black screen after a few minutes.

How do I stop my desktop from shifting? It's not shuffling from image to image; it's going straight from image->solid black screen.

Current settings.

Uncheck all but the image you want as the background and it will disable the shuffle timer.
Any chnce you can upload all of the colors of that amd wallpaper?

;D
Um, you do notice the "not genuine" watermark in the lower right hand corner, right? I believe the background going black is an effect of the WGA countermeasures. Check your Windows key...hate to ask, but you are running a legit version, right

I think I have to agree here. I am not speaking from experience, but I can't help but agree.

Mine did exactly the same when my copy decided to turn non legit so I can only assume that it is your problem too XD

spent two hours on phone to microsoft to sort it out lol

Definitely go get it sorted and your wallpaper problem will stop
Ok. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks guys.

Now then, is there any way to make the quick-launch menu in the bottom left just like Vista's?

There certainly is! Do this:
  1. Right-click on the Taskbar.
  2. Uncheck "Lock the taskbar".
  3. Choose Toolbars > New toolbar...
  4. Copy paste the following into the dialog box that appears: %userprofile%\\AppData\\Roaming\\Microsoft\\Intern et Explorer\\Quick Launch
  5. Press Enter, or click OK.
  6. To get rid of the text labels for the icons, right-click where it says "Quick Launch" and uncheck "Show Text".
  7. To get rid of the title, right-click on it and uncheck "Show title".
  8. Click & drag it to where you want it, and then lock the Taskbar.
You can also use Small or Large Icons with it as well.

Cables:

I've just spent the better part of 20 minutes messing around with the settings. I didn't even know that Windows 7 gave users so many customization options. Great advice.

There are still some things about the taskbar that are annoying me; I'll get back to you once I finalize what exactly they are.

In the meantime, you rock. + rep

I love Windows 7. Here's one really huge tip: right-click everywhere. You'll eventually discover things that just make you go "whoa that's awesome".
