is this card gonna be good enough for my monitors res? i was considering 4850x2 but if a gmae i like doesnt support 2 gpu's, i am screwed. will be left with a single 4850 to run my 24" monitor. and i really dont like the power consumption of a 4870x2 or the price. i hope a sinlge 4870 1gig is enough for awhile, any info appreciated

well, i guess it depends on what you are expecting out of it.
don't set the bar too high, this wont play crysis/farcry2 at max.
question though why no option for the gtx280? its a solid card for what you are looking at.
but imo i think the 4870 1g will cover you.

To be realistic no single card solution out right now will kill every game at Max settings with 1920X1200 Resolution. The 4870 1Gig is no exception. Since it has more RAM it will do better then a 512MB card at supporting your resolution and you'll be able to play most anything right now on Max settings with 1920x1200. However, you'll have to compromise on your settings on a handfull of games to keep up high frame rates while maintaining a 1920x1200 resolution.

Buy the 4870 1Gig, you can't go wrong!

The 4870 1GB is a great choice, pull the trigger if you want.

The GTX260 core 216 is also a great choice though. The 4870 will have better AA performance (noticeable at 4x and higher AA), while the GTX260 will have a higher minimum FPS in games. Which do you value more, I can't say, but they are both good buys.

4870x2 is probably overkill, it's not something you need.

I can run crysis, at high, 2xaa 16xaa with a 512 edition.

Farcry2 runs at ultra high, 2xaa 16xaa all fine, not many hitches. Although i go to 4x aa and it slows down a lot.

this is at 1900x1200, but i lower it to 1650x1050 to get higher settings on my 24" samsung.

Also on the 512, so 1 gig would be better. Maybe not maxing out

but close to it.

kool, i just really like saphire toxic edition. i could always go 4870x2. but wonder if it is worth it to go that route or just get next series card when they come out, i only want a single card

how good does 1680x 1050 look on a natvie 1920x 1200 res?(very curious)
