Let it install by itself...that's the good thing about Linux
i dont understand...it doesnt install by itself. i need to load a kernel module i think but im not sure....don't you have to configure it yourself?

/lib/modules/`uname -r`/pcmcia

Look there for modules/drivers you can load.

Then edit /etc/pcmcia/wireless.opts.
It should be easy to tell what to edit, its well commented.

Some more info, http://www.slackbook.org/html/networ...-wireless.html

I don't have any experience with wireless cards in linux, but I hope that helps.
you are the one person i hoped would answer this thread. this is a response i got from linuxquestions dot org

Quote:

use ndiswrapper, download-unzip-make install
copy .ini and .sys windows driver files into ndiswrapper directory
ndiswrapper -i filename.inf
modprobe ndiswrapper

now i know this is how you do it in ubuntu, will this work in slack 12?
or should i do what you said? btw its a PCI card on my desktop sig rig, not a PCMCIA so i dont know if that directory is right...whats the corresponding directory for PCI modules??

That method should work on slack12 too, is probably your best bet to get wireless working.
