To help us work out whats wrong, i've got a few questions....

How have you got it setup in the BIOS? S1, S2, S3 or S4?
Is the pc on a network?
Is APCI enabled in WinXP?

To check the BIOS setting, find a section in the BIOS call "Power Managerment" or something like that and report back what the setting are.

Also, go into Device Manager (R/click My Computer > Manage > Device Manager) Expand the computer line and it should say "ACPI Uniprocessor PC"
