Well, I have been wanting to buy another GTX280, and right now I am seeing better prices for XFX/BFG versions of this card. I am wondering if there is any disadvantage at all to mixing brands of cards?

I also found this one on eBay:

Not really sure what the deal is here, it does not seem to have any brand associated with it other than Nvidia?

What do you guys think?

Nope you are fine mixing cards as long they are all the same series

Yea I know that, I used to have mixed 8800GTS cards in SLI, but I just was not sure if there was any downside to it in any way. So whats with that card from eBay? Is the brand on it actually just Nvidia?

Also, I just found that Fry's has the BFG 280 OC version for $250, which seems like a sweet deal to me. Running this in SLI with my standard GTX 280, all that will happen is that the OC version will downclock to what my standard version is running at, right?

Yea, I think I will be going with the card off of frys.com, it looks like the best price out there for a new card, and shipping is only like $7 for me. Sweet deal! Just wish I could use PayPal on frys.com

Nice, I guess there is no reason not to snag one then. Although I have never owned a BFG product in my life, I hope their warranty support and quality are good!

They're fine.
Anyways the card in the eBay link is the stock nVidia card (OEM), no "brandings" applied to it.

Nvidia doesn't sell OEM cards. That is a reference card, engineering sample only. Or a knock off (cheap) They do not sell to the public, because they don't manufacture video cards. They design video processors. !!Tesla only!!

it's up to the brand to have the card manufactured to nvidia design spec.
foxconn actually manufactures them for the brand. IE evga, BFG, XFX

Avoid it like the flu
