SLI GTX260 vs CrossfireX HD4770

What's the better combo? I'm all for ATI and all but I've heard so much hype about the 260 family that it's almost sickening... granted that there's equal hype about the 4770 group. >.>

I can never seem to find a decent article online that regards the two in a fair comparison. Please, I just need to know what's better for what?

I'd like this to be a rather short discussion between a couple Nvidia and ATI people. I didn't make this thread as another "flame war" either. Curiosity killed the cat, Satisfaction brought it back... if you will...

Well i know that the 260 is comparable to the 4870 and 4870>4770 so the 260 sli is better than the 4770 crossfire.
At least that is my understanding

the GTX260 SLI will beat the HD 4770 easy. GTX260's take blows with the HD 4870 family.

260 SLI will be faster. I think both the 260 and 260 core216 should both be faster.

4770 run cooler and should overclock a little better being 40nm though

Well... I didn't want to believe it but I looked it up on Tomshardware.com and it proves that on a one on one basis, the 260 puts it into the ground. Ahh well... guess we can't win every battle eh?
I should have known better, I'm a budget gamer. ^^

4770 has 4850/GTS 250 performance.

That should sum it up... however the 5770 single or crossfire is the way to go nowadays.

your board don't support SLI.

CFX is your only choice

why not go for a single 5850 ?

Oh I know it wouldn't take SLI. It's just that I had gotten sick and tired of the constant *****ing about which of the two are faster that I had to come here and ask. Darn... well... it's like I said before: I'm a budget gamer. My entire setup including the OS, Monitor, and the other stuff, is a little over $1300. I'm plenty happy with what I have. ^^ So long as I can keep the 4770s at 900/1000 on a regular basis, I'll be a 4770 owner for a loooooong time.
Thanks guys. +Rep time. ^^
