I have an old 295, and from personal experience dealing with sli, you need to have both cards seated and powered to see it as an option in the nvidia configuration panel.

Also because you don't seem to have dealt with SLI before, it is important to remember that both of your cards must be the same. You cannot mix and match different cards, 460 from msi and 460 from gigabyte would work for instance, but a 460 and 465 would not work in an sli configuration.

intel i5 760 overclocked to 3.86
EVGA GTX 470 overclocked 815 core
750 watts thermaltake gold power
1tb hdd
4gb of ddr3 corsair dominator ram

and yea my motherboard is asus p7p55 LX hybrid it only supports crossfire so i used the SLI patch

Depends on the rest of your hardware, but around 720 watts would be a good estimate for a well built, quality power supply.

so ummm 750 should be aight? wut about if im running 2 gtx 580

750 watt Thermaltake is plenty for sli 470's.

For dual 580's I would think somewhere around 850 watts.
Again, brand and other hardware dependent.
