Alright, I've been thinking about this a little bit. My HDD is one that supposedly has a quiet mode on it. Is this enabled through which power connector you use or what? I think that I might be getting reduced performance, because my HDD is so quiet. Does anyone know how the Deskstar drives from just over a year ago were so quiet (they're no longer made)?
