Ok i got a Western Digital 160GB 7200 RPM external drive with USB2 (or well i THINK it is!)

It took me 70 minutes to transfer 120 GB off of it onto a 130GB raid-0 74gb Raptor set of drives (10k rpm) that are in the SATA setup. It calculated to 27.48 MB/s. Does that sound right guys? Usb1.1 only goes 8MB right? So it has to be USB 2.0 right... and that should be how fast the external hard drive can transfer right? Just checking

There's nothing wrong with your drive. I was actually looking at some benchmarks not too long ago and most usb 2.0 hdd's were around mid 20's.

With the external you are also taking up the bandwidth with chatter which ties down the connection. Your HDD id operating correctly.
