On a small budget, but buying a new GPU and PSU. For GPU Radeon 4870 or Nvidia GTX 260 Core 216. Have a 20" Dell monitor with resolution of 1680*1050. I'm definitely more partial to Nvidia, never had a problem hardware, drivers, or rivaturner. But I think that ATI is a little less expensive and of the same quality?? Drivers?? For PSU not really sure. Thinking OCZ or Corsair. On a budget of no more than $350. One more quick question. If I install 8gigs of ram in my EP45-DS3L instead of just the four that I now have, will that effect my overclocking ability or can I just up the north bridge voltage?

I haven't heard of 4 sticks limiting OC potential lately other than on Nvidia chipsets.

I would suggest getting a 4850 and ocz 700w, pretty nice deal in the link below.

edit: also theres usually a good deal on open box cards, I'd trust them.

Corsair 650TX has a large single 12v rail @ 52 amps and is cheaper than the 520w by a few dollars.

the GTX260 Core 216 is a strong card

those two components should be good.

why do u need 8gb? 4gb should be fine for any game, even crysis.

are u running 2x2g or 4x1gb now? and ur new ram will be 4x2gb? (not so sure about 4gbx2, the more memory on one module usually slows down timings when u get above 2gb per module. i just notice this when i look at RAM timings)

newer chipsets seem to handle 4 DIMM slots better than the older 965 chipsets when OCing/ so u might not have to change the NB voltage. if u need to, it wont be by much.
Corsair VX550W (41A Single 12V Rail, high in quality PSU)
Sapphire HD4870

this will do you well, better than the hx520.
Yea.. I'm thinking GTX260 also.. 8gigs in Vista for Adobe CS4 Master Collection. Don't know much about Photoshop Extended 64 bit or Dreamweaver, but I have the collection installed and only fooled around with Premiere Pro for a bit. Figured 8gigs would have a decent impact?
Corsair 550VX and GTX260 55nm Would be my choice.
do u know what it uses currently when its running? bring up the task manager when its running and look at ur list of processes

if ur running apps like that, 8GB cant hurt if u can afford it.

go for the GTX260 and the corsair 650w

why do people keep recommending the 550's?? the 650 is cheaper/same price and better lol

the GTX260 core 216 doesnt come in 55nm, so the core 216 will put out a bit more heat, but u get more processor cores. better for gaming, just crank the fan a bit.

GTX260 Core 216 55nm there it is, its pricey tho.
EDIT: i was wrong, the GTX260 core216 version does come in 55nm, but i have to find one... one sec.
Power Supply Corsair-650tx $69.99 after MIR with free shipping!

GPU XFX 4870 1gb $189.99 after MIR

or
Sapphire 4870 1gb $189.99 after MIR with free shipping!

GPU beat's the 260 core 216 for ~$50 less without the MIR with it it beats it by about ~$70-80 . Also a good powersupply.
