What is your idea of a good MicroATX system that isn't loud?

ahm, mine used to be quiet.....
I forgot what quiet is... Maybe my netbook is quiet???

Anyways if you want quite, just stick with stock CPU cooler (unless you can get a quiet fan for the heatsink), and a bunch of 25 DB and lower fans.
Buy;
1-)A passive CPU cooler.
2-)Radeon HD 4350 or 3650 with passive cooling.(You may also try Sparkle 9800GTX with Passive Cooler)
3-)PC Power & Cooling Silencer PSU.

I guarantee <20 db.

sLowEnd, I guess it depends on your definition of what "loud" is. The most obvious thing would be to make sure the motherboard is passively cooled. Most newer chipsets are so that shouldn't be an issue. I use to carry these fans and they were very quite. They didn't push a whole lot of air but they were perfect at the time. In regards to a PSU, surprisingly my VX550 is very quit even under load. The 120mm fans that are in these power supplies are hardly audible.

What do you plan on doing with this new build?

Good luck

I don't plan on doing anything

I just want to get a good idea of what people think is quiet.

My PSU is super quiet ,unlike my stock cpu cooler, which is louder
Also i think my PC is quiet when i turn my music on (almost all the time ), so i believe music is the best way of getting a quiet system

sLowEnd, we have some small form factor HP7100's at work that in my opinion are virtually silent. There is only two fans in the case. There is one fan that is near the front bezel exhausting air through a shroud that covers the heatsink and the other is in the power supply. Though I think if the machine was installed in a tight area (ex. closed cabinet) there may be heat related issues.

I hope that helps. I apologize, I thought you were building a new rig

Good luck

45w TDP X2 + 780G mobo + SSD + one 120mm 800RPM fan.
