I've had the EVO since December, but since learning about how it staggers against its cousin, the Samsung Epic, I've since been setting my sights on one. I have actually found someone who will trade with me one for the other, but for some strange reason I keep feeling like I won't have the same freedom rom wise with the Epic. This is mainly due to the fact that I rooted my EVO and is currently running the MIUI rom, which to me, is theeeee best rom I've seen out there, even while missing 4G (I'm in south Florida, so whatever). Should I really push forward and get the Epic instead?

You will regret getting the Epic. I've had every Sprint Android phone besides the Intercept and the Zio so I have plenty of experience. I had the Evo and Epic for at least 3 months each. I'm currently using the Evo Shift and wish I still had the Evo. The Epic has the best camera by far, but besides that the Evo is way better especially if your into rooting and trying out different roms. The screen is good to show off to someone, but it's not that great for your day to day use.

Hmmmm points well taken. This rom is actually the first rom that I had with a kernel that I could overclock with. Its funny because I kept bumping into roms that are REALLLY fast, mostly Cyanogen based, but they lack stuff I really like, like the stock camera, or visual voicemail. Why in the heck would you replace the stock camera with the one from the G1/cupcake age? I mean seriously.

I wouldn't do it, HTC seems to have the best dev support and also seems to be the easiest to hack (except for the nexus line). Not only that but the newer phones don't have all that much more over the evo (not yet at least). I say keep but if you really want a breath of fresh air go for it.
