2x 4870 512mb for $200 (non oc'd)
2x 5770 1gb for $ 275-300 (oc'd)
5850 1gb for 270 (oc'd)
Mostly play shooter, thinking of getting the 5850 in early april if newegg or microcenter has a nice sale (sub 250 preferred) and maybe pick up another monitor 1680x1050, 1080, or 1900x1200. Otherwise will probably just get another 4870, would OC the 5xxx, but 4870 will not OC because for whatever reason the 2nd monitor always flickers when I oc the memory..

My vote goes to the 5850. Plus, you can always xfire later if you want 5970 performance.

Get the 5850(which i endorse fully) or the crossfired 5770s... the lower vram on the 4870s is not going to help you when you use a high resolution while gaming... Personally say a 5850 which gives you the option to crossfire in the future...

5850. Where did you find it for $270?

2x 5770 or 5850. But i'd prefer the 5850.

Microcenter had a sale on them a few weeks ago for 263 wish I would've gotten one, figure it'll go down when fermi releases. They're currently out of stock on them atm. Does 2x 5770 still beat a 5850 when both are oc'd pretty heavily? I know a 5850 oc's like a beast..

Really? I was under the impression that a 5970 was just two down clocked 5870s, which should put it pretty much at the same performance of two 5850s.

EDIT: According to this review they're almost equal performance-wise.

Don't think so, I've seen a few of his posts in the WTS/WTB topics. Anyways anyone know how 5770 CF compares to 5850 with the newer drivers and while OC'd?

5850, I have 1, easy solution, cheap, good scalability if you want to add another 1.
Easy on your PSU, better than a 5830, more affordable and not much slower than a 5870...

I got mine Friday, been playing round with it today, love it..

One of many.

I also have one with a Phenom II 955 @3.875GHz, watercooling, a HD 4870 x2, etc.

The only reason 5850 CF can possibly beat a 5970 is x16/x16 CF. x2 cards typically have very slightly better scaling though.
